The person behind the pages

Hi, I'm Martin

Illustrator, developer, and dad of three

I run coloring.photos and draw every page on it myself. I'm based in Croatia, and I'm a dad of three, which is really where this whole thing started.

How a drawing tablet turned into coloring.photos

How it began

I ended up drawing coloring pages almost by accident

By trade I'm a developer and project manager, not an artist. I picked up drawing almost by accident. My company was working on computer games and we got drawing tablets, and once I had one in front of me, I started teaching myself to draw with it. The first thing I made wasn't for work. It was a coloring page for my own kids.

That one page turned into a habit, and the habit turned into this. I started coloring.photos in 2021, mostly out of frustration. Every free page I found was low quality, all different sizes, and a pain to print properly. So I made my own. Every page here is drawn at one clean A4 size and made to print well, and I draw new characters as films and shows come out, often the ones the bigger sites don't have yet.

How I make the pages

I draw everything on a drawing tablet, building each page up with technique, layering, and reference images to get it right. I'm honest about my process: I'm self-taught, and lately I use AI to spark ideas or give me a starting point, but the bulk of the actual drawing is my own hand.

The real quality control

My three kids test everything. If a page is too hard, too boring, or just doesn't land, I hear about it fast, and honestly they've shaped the site more than anything else.

My oldest has started borrowing my tablet to draw her own pages, so expect coloring pages from a brand new author on the site very soon.

Everything on coloring.photos is free to print and always will be. If there's something your kids would love that I haven't drawn yet, I'd genuinely like to hear it.
