Walt Disney Studios released a trailer for its upcoming animated movie. It’s called “Encanto,” and it’s set in rural Colombia.
Disney Encanto is an upcoming American animated musical fantasy comedy film produced by Walt Disney Animation Studios. It will be the 60th animated feature in the Disney Animated Canon. Directed by Byron Howard and Jared Bush, the film will be written by Bush and Charise Castro Smith. It also features music from Miranda.
This is the story Disney Encanto tells
The tale follows a family called Madrigals. They live hidden in the mountains of Colombia in an enchanted house. Every member of the family gets extraordinary powers. The powers are also called Encanto.
The odd one out is Mirabel who is 15 years old. She struggles to find her place in her family. However, when her family’s magic becomes endangered, she must use her ordinary gifts to save encanto.
The voice of Mirabel is Latina actor Stephanie Beatriz, who recently starred in Lin-Manuel Miranda’s “In The Heights”. “I’m Colombian on my father’s side, and playing this role fills me with immense pride,” Beatriz said in a statement.
Original song for the film is titled “Colombia, Mi Encanto.” It’s from an award-winning singer-songwriter Carlos Vives penned an Vives. He is a native of Santa Marta, Colombia, and said in a statement: “This song is a celebration of the magical diversity of Colombia. … I can’t wait to see how the music will blend with the images and the characters inspired by the encanto of Colombians.”

“Encanto” will be in theaters at Nov. 24. 2021.
